Our Winery of the week this week is Chateau Meichtry in Talking Rock GA.
This winery in my opinion has the best Pinot Grigio out of all the ones
on the Tour. Karin’s grandfather brought grapevines from France to plant
in the North GA mountains years ago and thats how they got started.
This week’s Winery of the Week is Cartecay Vineyards. Today Sunday and Labor Day they are celebrating their
Crush Festival. they are located in the Cartecay region of GA near the Cartecay river. Cartecay is Cherokee for Bread Valley.
Please check them out at Cartecayvineyards.com. Remember that Every day is a good day to GO Wine!
This week’s winery of the week is the Fainting Goat Vineyards and Winery in Jasper GA.
The Fainting Goat has only been open about a year now and is in an absolutely beautiful location, high on a hill.
It is owned by the Higginbothams: David and Robin and their Daughter, McKenzie Potts. It is a boutique winery
and is perfect for various events. On my Go Wine! Tours it is usually the first or last stop since it is on the southeast corner of the circle.

This is a family business so I thought I would share a little bit about each of our team members who participated in the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th , 2016. I’ll put these in order of fastest to slowest.
The #1 runner on our team was my son : David Balfour who finished in 50:45! in the men’s age group 24-29. He is 25 years old and graduated from Georgia Tech in 2014 and now works as a Process Engineer at OFS.
#2 is James Padget who finished in 56:37. He is my son-in-law and is also 25. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 2013 and works as a consultant for ADP.
#3 is Brittany Balfour Padget who is my daughter and she finished in 59:20. She is also 25 (David and Brittany are twins). She Graduated from Agnes Scott College in 2013 and now works as an HR specialist at Primerica.
#4 is Brooke Balfour, my younger daughter who finished in 1:19:58. She is 21 and is entering her 4th year at Georgia State in the Fall, majoring in Computer Information Systems.
I was by far the slowest at 1:25:22. I’m blaming the heat and humidity…also my age has something to do with it.
a fun time was had by all and after we had a couple of Mich Ultras at the finish we ate a good breakfast at JR’s.
I’ll try to find something interesting to write about next week!
